Independent Contractors & VT2U Associates
All individuals who work with Vet Tech 2 U, LLC (“VT2U”) as associates are independent contractors and are not employees of VT2U.
All VT2U independent contractors are expected to represent VT2U professionally while providing services to clients and are required to follow VT2U's applicable standards for safety, animal welfare, professionalism, confidentiality, and client care.
Professional Conduct Around Clients
VT2U independent contractors are expected to:
- Treat clients, their homes, property, and pets with professionalism and respect.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients at all times.
- Protect client and pet information and maintain confidentiality.
- Follow VT2U safety and animal-handling standards.
- Work only within their education, training, credentials, and legally authorized scope of practice.
- Communicate concerns regarding a pet's safety or wellbeing appropriately.
- Refrain from making unauthorized promises, representations, or agreements on behalf of VT2U.
- Direct scheduling, billing, complaints, cancellations, and other business matters through VT2U.
- Not accept unauthorized private payments or arrangements from VT2U clients.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries regarding personal contact information and social media with VT2U clients.
Safety & Professional Judgment
VT2U prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of the pet, client, and independent contractor over simply completing a requested service.
An independent contractor has the responsibility and professional judgment to recommend modifying, postponing, or stopping a service when circumstances create an unsafe or inappropriate situation.
This may include, but is not limited to:
- Fear, severe stress, aggression, or unsafe handling concerns.
- Signs of pain, illness, injury, or medical instability.
- Unsafe conditions within the client's home.
- A request outside the contractor's training, credentials, or legally authorized scope of practice.
- Any circumstance that may place the pet, client, contractor, or another person or animal at unreasonable risk.
When appropriate, the contractor may recommend that the client contact their veterinarian or seek additional veterinary care.
Client Communication & Business Boundaries
VT2U independent contractors may communicate directly with clients regarding the service being provided and immediate pet-care or safety concerns.
However, VT2U remains the primary point of contact for business matters including scheduling, pricing, billing, cancellations, complaints, and service arrangements.
Independent contractors working with VT2U are not authorized to independently alter VT2U pricing, policies, service agreements, or other business terms unless specifically authorized by VT2U.
Clients should understand that all individuals working with VT2U as associates are independent contractors operating under an independent contractor agreement with VT2U.
Client Acknowledgment
By accepting services through VT2U, the client acknowledges and agrees that all VT2U associates are independent contractors and that they are expected to maintain VT2U's professional and safety standards while providing services.
VT2U and its independent contractors reserve the right to modify, postpone, or discontinue a service when reasonably necessary to protect the safety and wellbeing of the pet, client, contractor, or others.
